Biddeford High School
Improving conditions to help our youngest family members succeed.
Details.
Ledgewood Construction completed construction management of a multi-year, multi-phase addition and modernization to Biddeford High School. Without a major update since 1971, the school faced significant security and life safety issues, deteriorating conditions, and poor air quality.
The project included a complete modernization of the existing building and the addition of a new entrance, administrative wing, and media center, band and choral classrooms, and stair tower. Renovations provided much-needed efficiency upgrades, including windows, mechanical, and electrical systems, as well as a new exterior skin, drywall, paint, and finishes.
To bring the building up to code, three new elevators were incorporated into the design. Construction continued over a two year period, all while BHS was fully functional. The work was carefully phased to accommodate daily school functions and activities, and to ensure the safety of staff and students.
