The University of New England, Maine, is home to the groundbreaking Harold and Bibby Alfond Center for Health Sciences, a state-of-the-art facility that will redefine healthcare education in the state. Ledgewood Construction served as the Construction Manager for this innovative project, ensuring the successful development and completion of this high-tech facility.
The project, which broke ground in 2022, is a transformative addition to University of New England Maine’s Portland campus. Set to open in the summer of 2025, it will serve as the new home for UNE’s College of Osteopathic Medicine. The facility includes:
- A 240-seat lecture hall with a massive 48-foot seamless video wall for immersive learning.
- Advanced clinical skill labs and standardized patient exam rooms to replicate real-world medical scenarios.
- Flexible classrooms and breakout spaces that encourage hands-on, team-based education.
- UNE’s Center to Advance Interprofessional Education and Practice, where future doctors, nurses, and healthcare providers collaborate in a shared learning environment.
This facility integrates the latest medical training technology with sustainable building practices, creating an environment that prepares students for the future of healthcare.
