LEWISTON HIGH SCHOOL MODERNIZATION PROJECT

The Lewiston High School modernization project is more than just a building update. It’s a story of growth, collaboration, and forward-thinking design. Led by the Lewiston Public School Districtand thoughtfully brought to life by the team at Lavallee Brensinger Architects, the project included a two-story, 42,200-square-foot addition along with a full renovation of the existing school buildings.

From welcoming new spaces for special education and adult learning to creative hubs for fine arts, every corner of the updated school was designed with students, teachers, and the greater community in mind. Highlights include a vibrant visual arts gallery, a secure new main entrance, and refreshed administrative and guidance areas that support a more seamless day-to-day experience.

SMART CHOICE, BIG IMPACT

One of the most impressive parts of the Lewiston High School modernization is the way the team made thoughtful design decisions without going over budget. Working closely with Lewiston Public Schools, the architects expanded the building’s footprint by eight feet from front to back. That simple change made a real difference in layout and flow while staying within the original cost plan.

RISING TO THE CHALLENGE: BUILDING THROUGH A PANDEMIC

Like many school construction projects completed during challenging times, this one faced its share of hurdles. Material shortages and workforce limitations added complexity, but thanks to strong communication and flexibility, the team kept things moving forward. In the end, the school was completed on time and ready to welcome students and staff into a space built for their success.

As noted in the Twin City Times, we received high praise from Timothy Brochu, president of Adra Architecture, for our role in making the process a collaborative success.

“Ledgewood Construction is doing a very good job on site, addressing questions and responding to changes. I’m impressed with the way the company has managed this merging of the new with the previous construction,” Brochu said.

“The project superintendent is really on top of all phases, making my job a lot easier. As an architect, myself, I can see the excellent collaboration among the architectural firm (Lavallee/Brensinger), the contractor, and the school department.”

A SPACE THAT REFLECTS THE HEART OF THE COMMUNITY

At its core, the Lewiston High School modernization is about people. The upgraded spaces don’t just look good. They work beautifully for the students and staff who use them every day.

By working together, Lewiston Public Schools and Lavallee Brensinger Architects created a space that reflects the values and vision of the community it serves.
