Seaport Village

Constructing communities that bring our families together in their later years.

Details.

Ledgewood recently completed this combination project that has an assisted living facility on one end and a nursing home/rehabilitation facility on the other. The building totals 68,000-s.f. over two floors with a central kitchen, laundry, and mechanical facility serving both aspects of the facility. The rehab facility includes a $250,000 state-of-the-art therapy pool, the first of its kind in Maine. The pool had a 200-day lead time so shop drawings needed to be reviewed as one of the first items on the project and necessitated the entire design be coordinated to leave an opening in the exterior wall to be able to receive the pool when it arrived.

Ledgewood installed foundations and erected structural steel through one of the worst winters for freezing temperatures and snowfall recorded over the past 10 years. A trailer-mounted boiler with hundreds of feet of rubber hoses and insulated blankets were used to thaw the ground at night in order to excavate for the next day’s work. This extraordinary effort was put forth to ensure that the subcontractors that followed would be able to start on time.

This is Ledgewood’s ninth project for First Atlantic Healthcare.
