University of New England – Innovation Hall

Adapting the buildings of the past to mold the minds of the future.

Details.

Ledgewood served as construction manager for the renovation of the former Armory location in Portland, Maine. The University of New England expanded their campus for the new Innovation Hall. Built in 1860, the original building served as a trolley maintenance facility and was then converted to the Armory National Guard Facility in 1950.

The renovated 2-story building provides spacious function and pre-function rooms, several large classrooms, and a learning center. It also houses UNE’s Simulation and Standardized Patient programs.

The 512-s.f. addition and 64,163-s.f. renovation included all new mechanical, electrical and plumbing as well as a new roof and skylights with fire-rated glass curtain walls, new windows, and storefront.
